Rashi Mitra
Rashi is an international child rights, public policy, and research professional with over a decade of experience working across grassroots, policy institutions, and government advisory roles in India and the UK.
Rashi works as a Senior Research Associate at the Centre for Child and Law, NLSIU. She is engaged in the Right to Food programme, where her work focuses on socio-legal research, multi-stakeholder engagement, besides research on wider issues related to child rights.
Rashi’s research focusses on the intersectionality between children’s right to participation and protection. Prior to joining CCL, she has worked extensively with children and communities, focussing on advancing child protection, child participation, education, right to nutrition, and social protection through rights-based and evidence-driven approaches. She has developed and submitted policy recommendations to the National and State Governments for enhancing budgetary allocation towards children’s education and nutrition, designed campaigns and action plan for Poshan Abhiyan and combating child labour.
Most recently, she was deployed at Ministry of Labour, Employment, Training and Factories (LET&F) – Govt. of Telangana while working with Government Advisory at KPMG. There, she worked on the drafting of “The Telangana Draft Bill on Gig and Platform Workers (Registration, Social Security and Welfare) Bill, 2025 and State Draft Rules, 2025, in consultation with Government Stakeholders.
She holds a BA (Hons) in Economics from Christ University, Bengaluru. She also has a Master’s in Social Work from Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi, and an MA in International Child Rights and Development from King’s College, London. She also completed her PG Diploma in Child Rights Law from NLSIU, Bengaluru and qualified UGC NET (Social Work).
