Akshaya P

Akshaya P (she/her) works as a Research Assistant at the Centre for Child and Law, NLSIU. She is engaged in the Right to Food programme, focusing on policy research, data analysis, documentation and the development of resource material.
Akshaya holds an integrated MA in Development Studies from IIT Madras. The interdisciplinary nature of the program has equipped her with a unique perspective, enabling her to draw insights from various fields such as economics, sociology, and gender studies.
She has also cleared the UGC NET and holds a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Sociology. She has worked as a Research Associate in an ICSSR project that deals with the challenges and opportunities around social security for unorganised sector workers.
Her research interests lie at the intersection of gender politics, labour economics, social justice, and social inclusion. She is passionate about exploring how gender and caste identities interact with labour market forces that shape the economy.
Akshaya is also profoundly interested in feminist and queer social activism. She regularly engages with movements that advocate for the rights of marginalised communities.
